Yasha Kaushal 

PhD 2024 | Data Science | Astrophysics 

I am a data-driven researcher with over 8 years of dedicated research experience. I am passionate about applying advanced statistical tools to gain meaningful insights from the data. I am committed to continuous learning, mentoring and keeping up with emerging technologies. I come from a diverse background and involved in some great diversity initiatives - currently serving as the President of Alliance for Diversity in Science and Engineering (ADSE@Pitt) and Outreach Coordinator for Women and Minorities in Physics (WMP) Group at the University of Pittsburgh.

 

When not doing research, I could be found listening to Super Data Science Podcast (highly recommended!), doing Zoomba , Orange Theory Fitness or Dancing

Positions of Responsibility

Managing online platform to bring researchers at all levels across the globe - students, postdocs and faculty - who are interested in state-of-the-art techniques to model galaxy observational data

Increasing participation of under-represented groups in academia, industry, and government. Aiming to connect scientists across the nation, showcase non-traditional career paths and minority experiences in STEM, and educate students at all levels about potential career opportunities.

Local-National Coordinator for all 13 ADSE chapters across US

Serving in organizing board for >3 years to create a safe space and foster a sense of community in aspiring physicists.
